(And their frequent answers!)

What exactly is rueda de casino?

It is a fantastic type of CUBAN salsa where you dance in a group! You switch partners by doing moves initiated by a caller. You will pass the followers from one leader to the next and be able to dance with everyone in the class! What sounds more fun that meeting new people and learning a great new skill?

Do I need to bring a partner?

Not at all! We will be switching partners very frequently and there is always someone else who will probably need one too. Please feel free to come on your own!

Are there any age restrictions for students?

For the most part, NO. We have had 12-year-old students and 80-year-old students, and both were able to enjoy themselves in our class. Students need to be physically able to dance at a quick pace and must be old enough to understand how to follow instructions and be willing to learn. If you are unsure or have questions about the demands of the class in relation to younger or senior students, please contact us.

Where is it? What about parking?

Classes are held at DanceWorks Indy, 537 E Ohio St Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Please see the map below or go to for more information.

How much do classes cost, and how does payment work?

The total cost of an 8-week session is $50. We allow you to try out the first two classes a la carte. Payment works as follows: WEEK 1: Just $5! WEEK 2: Just $5! WEEK 3: $40 dues are required to pay the room fees and reserve your spot for the remainder of the 8-week session. **If you are already taking a higher level class with us, you may also attend other classes below your skill level with no additional cost!** Please note that at this time, WE ONLY ACCEPT CASH PAYMENTS. We also do not offer prorates or refunds. Thank you for understanding!

What should I wear?

Something comfortable! You do not need any special shoes or clothes, but please be ready to move and have fun.

How long are classes and how often do you meet?

Classes are 90 minutes long. The beginner class currently runs 7:30pm–9:00pm on Mondays, and the core intermediate class runs 7:30pm–9:00pm on Wednesdays. Each session runs for 8 weeks. For all 2020 session dates, check here:

What if I can't make it to the first class, or miss a class mid-session?

If you are unable to take the first class of a new session, you are welcome to come to the second, as we still accept members on week 2. After the 3rd week, we ask for newcomers to wait until the next session so that they don't get overwhelmed or discouraged with so many new things to learn. If you miss a class mid-session, feel free to come to the next class 15 minutes early or stay 15 minutes later for additional help. Usually there will be an instructor or a more experienced dancers who are more than willing to catch you up to speed on what you missed.

Where can I practice outside of class?

We love when our students are enthusiastic about dancing with us and want to learn outside of the classroom. Feel free to check out our salsa schedule for a calendar of social dancing around Indianapolis! (And if you notice we're missing something, let us know!) If you'd like to hone your skills in our class specifically, or think you could benefit from some one-on-one help, feel free to come 15 minutes early to class (or stay after) where one of our instructors will be available to answer any of your questions and break down anything for you. Additionally, we offer instructional step-by-step videos for students currently taking classes with us. Ask an instructor for details if you are interested!

If you have additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
